Job Summary
Reporting to and with the direction of the CareCorp Care Leader, the Support Services Manager is responsible:
• To build and deliver effective food, housekeeping and laundry services operation in a 90 bed long term care setting
• To ensure continuous improvement of the services provided to residents in order to achieve a high degree of resident satisfaction with food services
• To ensure licensing, company and industry standards are met/exceeded
• To provide daily leadership and supervision to the support services team with a focus on a high level of staff engagement

Key Accountabilities
• Effective and efficient operation of all aspects of Support Services Operations in accordance with standards, policies and practices of the facility and in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Ensuring that Health and Safety policies, practices, standards and legislated/regulated requirements are in place and maintained at all times.
• Implementing, monitoring and achieving all approved budgets and plans. Implement corrective actions to address any variances.
• Participating in the activities of the Resident Council, Quality Council, and Managers meetin.gs
• Resolving issues related to Resident/family complaints which have been raised within the care facility in regards to support services operations.
• Effective development and promotion of a Food Committee that addresses suggestions, concerns or complaints. Provides follow up and resolution on all issues.
• Implement, manage and maintain the Quality program as outlined by the company, including weekly and monthly audits
• Ensuring appropriate supply and maintenance of all required equipment and supplies
• Estimates and checks inventory for requirements. Orders and receives supplies and resolves discrepancies with suppliers.
• Plans menus and collects recipes according to nutritional and therapeutic diet needs of the facility and estimates food requirements -- typically in conjunction with the Dietician
• Works closely with Recreation Staff to deliver high quality food components to Resident and Family events
• Supervising staff by coordinating work assignments and evaluating performance. Coordinates work flow to replace ill or absent employees in conjunction with facility scheduling staff.
• Driving the hiring, orientation, training and continuing education for staff.
• Establishing effective working relationships with direct reports (cooks, assistant cook, dietary aides, housekeepers, laundry aides) by holding regular meetings with staff, communicating daily, soliciting opinions for improvements.
• Managing the performance of direct reports by setting goals, assessing performance, providing staff a clear picture of their performance and expectations
• Facilitating and participating in staff meetings, in-service sessions and committees.
Key Relationships
• Reports to: CareCorp Care Leader
• Manages: Food Services Staff (Cook, Assistant Cook, and Dietary Aides), laundry and housekeeping.
• Works Closely with: Dietician & Maintenance Manager
• Interfaces and builds relationships with: Residents and Families; Nursing, Food Services, Maintenance, and Recreation Departments; Community Partners; Suppliers and Company Corporate and Regional contacts
Qualifications & Experience:
• Completion of Food Services Management/Nutrition
• Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or eligibility for membership
• Minimum three years experience in the food services industry preferably in a management role
• Experience in the supervision of other support services (laundry, housekeeping and maintenance)
• Ability to respond appropriately and effectively to change
• Experience in implementing new food service models an asset
• Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills
• Proficient computer skills (online ordering, Microsoft applications, email, etc.)
• Experience in health care or long-term care setting preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
