*Location: This job is in North Vancouver Island. The ideal candidate will be based out of the Courtenay area, and the territory includes Comox Valley region, Powell River region, Campbell River region, and Port Hardy.
*Hours & Compensation: This job is part-time, offering 20-24 hours of work per week, competitive salary, benefits, and reimbursement for business millage on your personal vehicle.
Under the guidance of the Regional Manager, the primary responsibility of the RSM is to maximize the presence and consumption of Wrigley Brands at selected Retail and Wholesale customers across several trade channels within the assigned territory. These could include Grocery, Club, Drug, Mass Merchandiser, Convenience and Gas e.g. Shoppers, Zellers, Price Chopper, Loblaws, Walmart, Costco. Alternatively, depending on the region, the customers could be gas and convenience only.
Objectives are effectively accomplished with consistent coverage of the customers within the assigned territory and through the use of professional selling skills with the purpose of maximizing distribution, shelving, merchandising, and pricing strategies which meet Wrigley corporate guidelines.
As a part-time associate, the RSM is an integral member of the Field Force that is broken down into 8 regions. Each RSM reports into the respective Regional Manager and is set individual sales goals as well as team goals (whether it be a specific distribution, region or national sales target). Each RSM is responsible for maintaining call effectiveness goals by doing 7-8 calls each day. An RSM should be spending 80% selling and 20% merchandising.
The RSM will work within a specific area servicing retail stores, cash and carry outlets, independent convenience and variety stores, and chain store accounts, according to an 8 week planner incorporated in the Storepro system. The type of business a RSM visits varies by territory but typically includes gas, convenience, and other small retailers. The RSM will also support the Territory Manager's coverage of selected high volume accounts that require the merchandising and pricing of Wrigley products.
Responsibilities:
• Organize and maintain the efficient and consistent coverage of customers within the assigned territory based on direction from the Regional Manager.
• Use professional selling skills and knowledge of market based A.C. Nielsen data to gain acceptance to listing Wrigley brands as well as implementing Wrigley shelving and merchandising strategies
• Develop new retail accounts in assigned territory as determined by the Regional Manager.
• Ensure that retailers maintain appropriate inventory levels of Wrigley Brands to meet consumption and demand by helping to coordinate the supply of Wrigley brands to the retail trade.
• Through close communication with the Regional Manager and Account Teams, report observations and developments in the field which could have an effect in any aspect of Wrigley business operations such as competitive activity and customer trends.
• Report key information at retail and wholesale through the use of Wrigley’s Stay-In-Front
• Retail Reporting system and prepare necessary reports to be submitted to and reviewed with the Regional Manager
• Attend and actively participate in Regional and National Sales Meetings periodically throughout each year
• Manage selected retail chain accounts and wholesale customers by utilizing the Business
Development Planning process to generate incremental business and meet spending guidelines
• Perform special assignments as required by the Regional Manager which are aligned with corporate objectives and values.
Requirements
• Minimum High School diploma is required - post secondary education is desirable
• 2-3 years of sales experience preferably gained in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry or an equivalent sales related environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Proficiency with basic internet based software – required to enter specific data into the computerized Storepro system to perform administrative duties such as order processing, distribution tracking, call effectiveness, promotional tracking, agency stock, and merchandising as well as goal setting.
• Knowledge of Confectionery, Consumer Packaged Goods or other related industry
• Valid driver’s license – use of a reliable automobile
• Bilingual in French & English is an asset (required if working in the Quebec region)
