We are seeking a Project Manager to join our growing team!
Position Description:
• Manage and track project schedules, budgets, change orders, backcharges, deficiencies, construction progress and project close out
• Work with all departments to ensure effective use of project documentation: RFI’s, Site Instructions, Daily Logs, Issue/Risk Logs, Drawing Logs, Inspection/Test Logs, and Punch Lists
• Accountable for resolution of any problems or inconsistencies which occur throughout the construction project. These may include procurement, contract negotiations, scheduling, financial/budgeting, equipment, manpower, quality, safety standards and commissioning
• Accountable for all on-site project activities which may include reviewing, monitoring of sub-contractors, supervision, engineering, procurement and any other job related activities
• Providing regular project reports and updates to management
• Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans
• Streamline and improve existing systems, procedures and policies
• Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
• Manage deficiency work
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications:
• Very good knowledge of construction and the market is a MUST
• Strong people skills and an ability to lead and work in a team environment
• Ability to supervise and liaise with the stakeholders, architects, engineers, city officials etc.
• Well versed in contractual agreements and risk assessment
• Knowledge of standard project management software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
• 2+ years of MS Project experience is a MUST
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly motivated
• Available for business travel (10-20%) throughout Canada and extended working hours when required
• Willing to learn and take direction
• Demonstrated comfort using technology to help manage projects more effectively
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required
• Familiar with applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and environmental requirements
Experience:
• 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry is required
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in construction management is preferred
• PMP would be an asset
• Experience in Viewpoint Construction Software would be an asset
• Experience in construction estimating, scheduling, cost control and contract management is required
• Experience in liaising with clients and consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors is required
