We are currently seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our growing team!
Job Summary:
The Accounting Clerk will perform a variety of duties from data entry to report generation and analysis. Responsibilities will include reconciling the bank accounts, coding transactions, reconciling subledgers and accounts, providing ad-hoc reporting, analyzing financial reports, and completing month-end reporting and related transactions. Other responsibilities will include performance of related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Reconciles bank accounts daily, identifies discrepancies and determines the reason, notifies relevant parties of any unresolved issues, makes related journal entries as needed
• Uses computer systems to run databases, extract transaction details, and create reports
• Calculates, prepares and issues documents related to GL accounts such as invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements
• Codes, totals, batches, enters, verifies and reconciles transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements
• Responds to internal and external information requests, maintains good employee relations and solves problems
• Performs related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying
• Stays current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends
• Performs other duties as required
Qualifications & Experience:
Requirements:
• Minimum 1 year working experience in accounting required
• Preference given to those who have taken introductory accounting and business courses at a college or university level
• Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
• Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word and MS Outlook, and advanced skills in Excel
• Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new software
• Able to work efficiently as part of a team, as well as independently
• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
• Able to work well under pressure and meet established deadlines
• Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
• Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
• Attention to detail in all areas of work
• High level of personal integrity
• Strong work ethic
• Self-starter
• Confident, consistent, decisive personality
• Must possess a clean Criminal Record Check
Working Conditions:
• Ability to attend and conduct presentations
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
• Overtime as required
• Lifting or moving up to 10 lbs. may be required
