Details:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the social worker will support aboriginal families with children aged 0-6 years and/or families at risk in the Mount Wadddington region. This position requires strong interpersonal communication skills and sensitivity to and knowledge of the local aboriginal culture.
Duties include:
* Maintain caseload of 6 clients / families
* Work with a team of support workers
* Accompany clients to meetings
* Provide transportation as per client Service Plan
* Complete home visits
* Coordinate meetings
* Work in one-to-one and/or group settings
* Act as liason between families and community agencies
* Work as part of a team for larger community events
* Develop reports and maintain records
* Attend training as required (some travel may be expected)
* Adhere to policies and procedures
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum undergraduate degree in related field or diploma with 3 years experience
* Class 5 driver licence, Class 4 an asset
* Have own transportation
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Publisher
* Ability to develop Service Plans and Work Plans (with client participation)
* Extensive experience working with aboriginal families and communities
* Work effectively alone and as part of a team
* Consistently maintain confidentiality
* Good understanding of the Friendship Centre movement
* Criminal record check
