Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspection Supervisor is an individual with extensive knowledge of quality control programs in the construction field. This individual must be well-versed in training procedures that enhance the retention of the trainees as well as ensuring that the appropriate procedures are followed. The Quality Control Inspection Supervisor must always keep the mission of quality as a first priority while ensuring that appropriate legislative rules and regulations are followed. This individual is able to emphasize the importance of adhering to and/or surpassing customer expectations in the fulfillment of work projects. The Quality Control Inspection Supervisor trains on the importance of having a high level of attention to detail, and taking notes of defects and or production errors in the files. This individual is able to train on conflict resolution while ensuring that defective materials are prevented from entering the supply chain. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Develop training program for Quality Control Personnel
*Assist in the formation of a technical training program that feeds into the training matrix and fulfills all requirements for Quality
*Assist the recruiting department with hiring and training potential Quality Control Staff who are outside hires
*Provide feedback to management (i.e. suggestions for improvements)
*Travels through the provinces to provide assistance to other Quality Control Departments in different divisions of Seymour Pacific Developments Ltd.
*Aware of changes to legislation, etc. affecting Quality Control standards and incorporates these into training
*Ensure that workers are aware of and performing their duties according to the specifications of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
*Ensure that client specifications and requirements are completed as necessary to ensure satisfaction for asset management
*Able to articulate to management, customers and workers the difference between the work completed and the work that should be completed and the reasons why
*Must explain the importance of record keeping and documentation for quality control employees
*Explain the importance of ensuring that quality control remains a priority even when workers may receive pressure with critical tight deadlines.
*Also able to train on conflict resolution and personality clashes and the smart way to handle the situation
*Must mentor staff to encourage quality rather than rely on enforcement
*Able to delegate many tasks while ensuring that they are completed to the highest level of quality needed
*Must be able to resolve computer issues and train workers with minimal computer experience on the completion of work order submissions in the computer
*Focus on continuous education and is able to stay current on new safety practices and procedures
*Ensure that the training encompasses all of the needed safety procedures.
*Continually verifies that the processes taught are being followed properly in the work sites
*Articulates the history of Quality Control and how it affects workers at work sites
*Train potential in-house personnel according to Quality Control Specifications
*Also provides training on inspections procedures and inspection safety
*Must be able to break down inspection tasks to the simplest explanations possible for workers who have limited or no experience with inspections.
*Presents to various stakeholders on training completed or training to be completed
*Provides justification for training including Return on Investment calculations and customer satisfaction percentages
*Includes in training how the items would appear if they were not properly inspected and the dangers following an improper or missed inspection.
*All other duties as necessary
Qualifications & Experience:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Post-Secondary Education in an appropriate field
*Minimum 5 years of direct work experience with Construction QC systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards
*Minimum 5 years of experience as a trainer in the construction field.
*Direct knowledge of Construction QC methodologies
*Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans
*Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision
*Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker
*Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams
*Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents
*Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits
*Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
*High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite
*Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Working Conditions:
*Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation.
*Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
*Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
*Overtime as required.
