Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform building condition assessments and audits on all property assets
* Set scope expectations and quality standards for capital improvements, major repairs and remodeling of existing properties
* Develop systems for monitoring capital improvements and disaster recovery
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance standards
* Investigate problems relating to existing structural elements and components
* Evaluate contractor performance to ensure project deliverables and quality standards
* Prepare detailed reports for management regarding the status of each property
Requirements:
* Minimum 4 years’ experience managing restoration and construction projects involving large residential buildings
* Diploma in architecture technology, building science, inspection, or equivalent
* In-depth knowledge of building materials and construction processes
* Ability to quickly identify and understand project issues
* Familiar with health and safety regulations
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
* Experience using in-house databases or construction management systems

The Building Specialist is responsible for developing an internal process for assessing the condition of each multi-unit residential property in Western Canada. The role implements schedules and procedures to coordinate preventative maintenance and capital improvements of all properties, while ensuring the methods used meet approved standards. The Building Specialist possesses a strong construction background in order to contribute to the increased performance of existing buildings.
