Upper Island Women of Native Ancestry has been actively involved in the community since 1991 to be a channel of communication between women of Native Ancestry and other organizations; to bring programs and services to the Aboriginal community; and to work with other registered charities on needs such as education, parental support, and employment.
POSITION TITLE: Executive Director
RESPONSIBLE TO: Board of Directors
START DATE: December 15, 2014
HOURS: 30 hours to start, Monday through Friday
Responsibilities will include:
• Financial Management: budgets, administering returns and administering contracts.
• Human Resources: staff supervision, recruiting, hiring/orienting new staff, conducting staff training, evaluating staff performance, maintaining staff records.
• The Successful applicant will need to develop an understanding of the Employment Standards Act, relevant labour laws, the Society Act and Revenue Canada regulations.
• Office management duties: ensuring protection of sensitive files/records, maintaining office equipment, keeping file system up to date, handle all organizational correspondence and inquiries.
• Assisting with new program development, grant research and proposal writing.
• Support Board of Directors by preparing and distributing meeting minutes and coordinator reports as well as help organize and plan the AGM.
Qualifications & Experience:
Requirements:
-Related degree
-Minimum 4 years of progressive supervisory experience
-Operating knowledge of MS Office and accounting software system.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-Strong cross-cultural skills to work in an Aboriginal environment
-Criminal Record Check required upon acceptance of position
