Qualifications & Experience:
The Sub Trade Coordinator is responsible for sourcing a variety of construction related trade contractors for multi-family residential builds throughout Western Canada. The role works closely with site staff and Project Managers to ensure qualified trades are available for new and current construction projects. The Sub Trade Coordinator uses experienced negotiation and estimating skills to maximize the organizations financial and operational performance.
Responsibilities:
• Within a team, administer sub trades contracts for all current and future builds
• Negotiate contract terms and conditions, documenting any agreed changes
• Liaise with construction site staff on a continuous basis to ensure quality standards
• Define and communicate detailed description of scope of work and payment schedule
• Support construction site staff and Project Managers in coordinating sub trades timeline
• Monitor contract renewal dates and make preparations accordingly
• Utilize well developed contract negotiation and communication skills
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors and key stakeholders
• Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, and employees
• Stay current on trade certification practices
Requirements:
• Post-secondary diploma in business, trades certification, or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in wood frame construction industry
• Background in construction estimating
• Knowledge of contract law if preferred
• Possess basic accounting skills
• Computer literate, including effective working skills in MS Office Suite and construction software
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with well-developed communication and negotiation skills
• Solid attention to detail with the ability to be a problem solver
• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning
• Able to work well under pressure and meet established deadlines
