The Conservation Officer Development Plan blends the recruit level training received while at the Western Conservation Law Enforcement Academy (WCLEA) with the experiential training received throughout the COS New Officer - Field Training Program.
Upon graduation from WCLEA, a new Conservation Officer will have the minimum training requirements to be a field Conservation Officer. They must also be mentored and provided with a series of opportunities throughout their first two years to develop the skills and abilities required in the position in order to be considered fully trained for operations. The new officer is supported throughout the COS New Officer - Field Training Program, linked directly to a Field Coach.
Salary:
CNSV O 18R (Training)
Year One - $48,942.48 annually
Year Two - $50,371.66 annually
CNSV O 21R (Upon successful completion of Field Training period)
$53,372.71 – $60,887.47 annually

Top-rated applicants will be offered a conditional employment opportunity that commences September 2nd, 2015 by completing 4 months of recruit training at the Western Conservation Law Enforcement Academy (WCLEA), Prince Albert Saskatchewan. WCLEA 2015, will be a split delivery with two months at WCLEA, followed by two months at a COS office and concluding with two more months at WCLEA.
Following the successful completion of the WCLEA training program, all hires will enter a field training period of approximately 2 years during which they will adhere to and meet the requirements of the COS New Officer - Field Training program, developing and demonstrating CO 21 job accountabilities.
Evening/weekend and overtime work will be required, as will travel (including overnight) and a willingness to operate in adverse conditions.
Applicants whose resume and online questionnaire responses successfully demonstrate the education and related work experience required will be offered the opportunity to attend a competency based structured interview in Vancouver. Interviews will be held mid- March, 2015.
