The Visitor Services & Marketing Manager is a contract position responsible for marketing Port Hardy as a destination, and managing the Visitor Services at the Port Hardy Visitor Information Centre. This position is a diverse role requiring a high degree of flexibility and the ability to multi-task. As the Visitor Services & Marketing Manager, you will develop promotional packages and marketing material for the promotion of the District of Port Hardy. You will interact with sponsor organizations, the international travel trade, destination marketing organizations, engage in direct to market sales campaigns and deal directly with the public. You will be responsible for all aspects of Visitor Centre operations including budgeting, daily finance, human resources, seasonal staffing, communications, event planning, retail sales and facility usage. Program development and implementation of strategic and business plans is your organizational mandate, with deliverables and regular reporting due to all sponsor organizations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in management or supervisory roles
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with the public
- Excellent communication skills & experience in professional writing
- Advanced computer skills, with experience in Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign for ongoing layout and distribution of marketing materials
- Advanced knowledge of Port Hardy & Region
- Ability to meet deadlines an operate in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to learn quickly and manage retail Point-of-Sale systems
- Must have knowledge of computer systems and networks
- Must demonstrate an ability to work well under pressure
- Must be a team player
