As a Forest Technician, you will perform a variety of technical and operational duties to support the planning, engineering and reforestation activities of the Timber Sales Office. Applying your knowledge of technical forestry management and field operations, you will estimate and compile resource needs, cost requirements, and conduct resource assessments. Qualifications & Experience:
To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following education and experience:
Diploma or degree in forestry, forestry management, a natural resource related field (i.e., geography, environmental studies, biology, resource management) and preferably 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals for professional registration.
2 years (preferably) of experience in one or more of the following area: conducting coastal road and cut block engineering/development, road construction, or timber sale administration. Note: This qualification applies to Coastal locations only.
Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist or equivalent with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Applicants who do not meet the professional requirement may be considered at a lower level, subject to confirmation of eligibility for registration as a Trainee Forest Technologist or equivalent immediately upon employment with the Ministry.
