This position is perfect for person who wants to have 3.5 days a week to enjoy the beauty and outdoor activities that North Vancouver Island offers. The area provides abundant opportunities to kayak, hike, wind-surf, camp, beachcomb, geocache, fish in world-class waters (salmon, trout, halibut, steelhead), dragon boat, whale-watch, participate in organized sports, and dive – most within 10 minutes from your door! For less than $100 for food, gas and your tent, you can surf for a week on miles of white sandy beaches on the rugged west coast.
Housing is extremely affordable in the area, with rents ranging between $600 - $1000/month for a 2 bedroom apartment or house.

As our SAIP Counsellor (.75FTE), the successful applicant must have a thorough understanding of sexual abuse issues, the consequences for children and their families, and a wide range of strategies for intervention, with an emphasis being placed on using integrated approaches to prevention and healing. Successful applicant must be knowledgeable about the behavioural, cognitive, emotional and social development of children and adolescents. This position comes with an excellent benefits package.

Qualifications & Experience:
Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent from a recognized professional faculty with preferably several years of experience working specifically with sexually abused children/youth, trauma, and multi-problem families
Excellent verbal and written communication
Proven skills in building and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and community partners.
