The Upper Island Women of Native Ancestry is seeking a Special Needs ECE for its Aboriginal Head Start Preschool Program. This program operates Monday through Thursday for children 3 - 5 years of age.
OVERVIEW OF COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
• Work as part of a team with other ECE's to provide a quality program for the children
• Provide extra activities and support for children needing help in these areas
• Work one-on-one with children or in a group
Qualifications & Experience:
• Knowledge of child behavior and development.
• Possess an Early Childhood Education Certificate or Diploma.
• Post-basic training for infants and toddlers certification and/or Special Needs is an asset.
• Ability to work with Aboriginal families.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team situation.
• Possess skills working with parents and children in small and large group situations.
• A clear criminal record check for vulnerable persons will be required.
