Planning Forester – BC Timber Sales (BCTS)
Salary $ 54,587.95- $ 68,179.95 annually, (plus $38.87 bi-weekly Isolation Allowance).
If a fully qualified applicant is not appointed then applicants with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification.

As Planning Forester, you produce and analyze a wide range of data required for the development of Forest Stewardship Plans (FSP) and operational plans. This position has a strong focus on First Nations relations, urban interface, and species and ecosystems at risk. With your extensive background in forestry, you are responsible for preparing FSP results and strategies associated background and implementation information. You ensure the planning components are consistent with provincial and federal case law, meet legislative and standard operating requirements and achieve professional reliance. An excellent communicator who thrives on building key relationships, you work directly with First Nations, local and provincial government staff, forest industry, stakeholders and the public. Highly organized and detail oriented, you function within a complex field involving integrated resource management and a high level of public involvement. Applying your ability to assess issues and recommend sound options, you provide functional direction to operational professionals and technicians with expertise in harvesting, engineering and silviculture.

You must be willing to attend occasional meetings outside of office hours; work extended hours with limited notice; travel frequently; and able to withstand the rigors of limited field work in inclement weather including flying in helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft.

Qualifications & Experience:
To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following:
• Bachelor of Science in Forestry or Agrology and 3 years of current (gained over the last 5 years), progressive and directly related forestry experience.
Or the equivalent combination of experience and education such as, the pupil program and 3 years of experience or a related diploma and 5 years of experience.
• Registration as a Professional Forester or Agrologist or eligible for registration.
• Directly related planning and integrated resource management experience. Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more years’ experience.
• Demonstrated experience organizing and managing complex concurrent initiatives. Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more years’ experience.
• Preference may be given to applicants with experience in First Nations consultation or relationship building
