The Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services, Procurement Services branch, part of Shared Services BC (SSBC), supports government as the lead agency for procuring and supplying the technology, accommodation, products and services required by government and the broader public sector to provide services to the people of British Columbia.
As the Procurement Specialist, you will be expected to manage the entire procurement life-cycle for simple to complex procurement projects for clients within the BC Government and to provide professional advice to clients for projects requested from the Broader Public Sector. These projects may be high profile, high risk, high dollar value and/or politically sensitive. You will also research and market alternative procurement strategies to support complex procurement (e.g. alternative service delivery, green procurement and aboriginal procurement) planning for business programs and both identify and manage opportunities for improved services and/or cost efficiencies.
Highly organized and results oriented, you are capable of meeting deadlines associated with multiple large projects. With your excellent oral and written communication skills, you will be responsible for negotiating and mediating successful resolution to issues for all parties involved. Proficiency with information technology and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders will ensure your success in this multifaceted role. Qualifications & Experience:
To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following:
• Degree, diploma, designation (i.e. Project Management Professional (PMP),) or equivalent in related field (i.e. procurement and contract management learning and development, risk management or law).
• A minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in the full procurement life cycle (including planning and acquiring goods and/or services to achieve business objectives).
• Experience analyzing complex issues, evaluating options and recommending solutions.
